One Hour Makes a Difference

One hour - that's all it took. I was aprehensive, haven't being in a school classroom in quite a while, but what I learned is that I loved it. I was given a chair next to a sweet girl. We learned about fractions and decimels. It was the perfect scenario for someone who loves to learn - I get to volunteer in a classroom to support the kids in our community and all the while refresh my memory on things learned long ago.

I left my first day of volunteering with an expectant heart of what was to come the rest of the school year. I wanted to support these kids. I don't know what their life is like, but what I do know is that they can't get enough of encouragement from us adults. I learned that by simply sitting next to a girl, learning fractions and decimels, I gave her some needed attention. She passed a test for the first time in a while. All it took was one hour of my week!

We get so caught up in our lives that one hour can be hard to come by. But, I'm determined to make my one hour become two hours and as often as I can.

Will you give an hour? An hour that can change a life forever? Whether it be volunteering at your child's school, or with friends of your children that hang out in your yard playing football, or at church in a classroom, let your hour shine!
